Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (L.O.L.E.R)
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) set out the legal requirement to safeguard people’s health and safety while using any workplace lifting equipment. Compliance is also essential for insurance purposes. LOLER requires that thorough examinations must be performed by highly competent personnel, at least twice a year for passenger lifts and once per year with lifts intended for goods only. Records must be kept of all LOLER inspections, and any defects reported to both the person responsible for the equipment and the relevant enforcing authority. MTM would be happy to advise you on LOLER requirements and compliance, and to help you arrange inspections.
